Have boundless energy, unassailable immunity, and impeccable beauty, strength, and health?
Well, then, you must eat what superheros do: super foods and super herbs, of course!
I was lucky enough to spend the weekend learning from the ultimate raw food expert, David Wolfe at an event hosted at Organic Avenue.
The moral of the weekend was eat more super foods and super herbs. Since you're probably more familiar with super foods, I'll highlight a few of my favorite super herbs.
3 Super herbs and why you should try them:
1: Detox with chlorella. Chlorella is the ultimate detoxifier: it cleans your blood, helps eliminate heavy metals, and neutralizes the city air you're constantly breathing in. It has been dubbed the anti-aging green food, since it's ability to eliminate toxins and free-radicals keep the signs of aging and disease at bay. Rich in chlorophyll, this green algae also fortifies your immune system and boosts your energy. It's also very high in protein, and I find adding the powder to my morning smoothies curbs my appetite. You can also find it in tablet form. If you live in NYC, you need chlorella
2: Run longer with cordyceps. This unique mushroom that only grows in the Himalayas is loved by athletes for its ability to increase oxygen in the blood, and therefore increase endurance and stamina. I found that taking it definitely helped me run longer, going from 3 mile runs to 6 effortlessly. It is also purported to boost the respiratory and immune systems. It's also great for battling fatigue, and I like to take it when I don't get a lot of sleep to keep me alert and banish tiredness.
3: Banish gray hair and baldness with He Shou Wu: While luckily I'm not balding, I have plucked approximately 4 gray hairs out of my head thus far, which in my book, is 4 too many. While I haven't personally tried this one yet, He shou wu is an excellent kidney, liver, and blood purifier, and it is well known for its ability to restore color to the hair and even keep it from falling out.
